Description
The service yard entrance to the west of Ham House is likely from the late 17th century. It features two single-storey lodges with gatepiers in between. The lodges are constructed of plum brick with red dressings and have tiled hipped roofs. Each lodge has two windows and a central door. The windows are designed with timber mullions and transoms, and there is a cornice at the eaves. There are later extensions added to the outer sides of each lodge. The entrance is marked by a pair of impressive rubbed brick rusticated gatepiers, which have Portland stone bases, cornices, and decorative pineapples on top.
