Description

Douglas House is a late 17th-century house with later extensions, located on Petersham Road. It is approached by a drive on the north side of the entrance to the Avenue to Ham House, and faces onto the Avenue. The main block is two storeys high with five window bays arranged as a 2:1:2 pattern, with the centre bay projecting slightly. The front facade is faced with brown brick. It features a hipped slated roof with a modillion eaves cornice and a pedimented centre bay, as well as two dormers. A central doorway is accentuated by a bowed, pedimented doorcase. Later 18th-century wings extend to each side, and a full-height 18th-century wing forms a rear extension, creating a 'T'-shaped plan. Single-storey outbuildings adjoin the right side.
