Description
The conservatory to Bushy House is an early 19th-century structure made of timber and glass, featuring a wrought iron truss roof. It is a single-storey building, with glazing on the south-east and west sides against a brown brick wall to the north. The conservatory is seven bays long and three bays deep. It is supported by freestanding, fluted timber columns that have waterleaf capitals, topped with a rich entablature. The frieze includes glazed metopes with fretwork triglyphs that are set forward, and there is a bead and reel motif above the metopes. The deep bracketed eaves are adorned with a fretwork cornice. The pitched roof is covered with overlapping glazing and is supported by scrolled iron trusses.
