Description
Chiswick House is a Grade I listed Palladian villa designed by Lord Burlington. The wings added by Wyatt were demolished in 1952. Lord Burlington resided here from 1729, and notable figures such as Charles James Fox, who died here in 1806, and George Canning, who died here in 1827, also lived at this location. Edward VII, when he was Prince of Wales, lived here for seven years. The house has been recently restored by the Ministry of Works. Chiswick House, along with its garden buildings and ornaments, forms a cohesive group.
