Description
The Royal Arsenal Statue of the Duke of Wellington, located on the north side of Plumstead Road in the Royal Arsenal, was created in 1848 by T. Milnes. This statue is made of Portland stone and depicts the Duke in military uniform, holding a broken sword and a roll of plans. His cloak rests on a piece of ordnance, with cannon balls positioned behind him. Historically, the Duke served as the Master General of Ordnance from 1818 to 1827. The statue was relocated from the Tower of London in 1863.
