Description
The Statue of General Wolfe, located to the east of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park, was created in 1930 by sculptor Dr. R Tait McKenzie. This bronze figure depicts General Wolfe holding a telescope and stands on a square stone plinth that is elevated by four shallow steps and one tall step. The plinth bears an inscription that reads, "This monument, the gift of the Canadian people, was unveiled on the 5th of June 1930 by Le Marquis de Montcalm." The surface of the plinth shows significant pitting due to bomb fragments.
