Description
Number 6, known as The Cutty Sark Public House, and Number 7 on Ballast Quay is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall with three widely spaced windows. It is constructed of multicoloured stock brick and features a parapet. The centre windows on the first and second floors are in rounded oriel bays, adorned with fluted pilasters and entablatures on each floor. All windows are sashes with glazing bars, although some have been replaced, and the side windows are recessed under gauged brick arches.
Number 6 has an early 19th-century shop front with glazing bars and a four-panel door. To the right, there is a modernised shop front with small leaded panes and panelled stallrisers. Number 7, located on the left, features a six-panel door that is mostly glazed and a replaced sash window with glazing bars, both situated under a flat stuccoed lintel with a segmental relieving arch above. A fire assurance sign is visible on the first floor.
The listed buildings on Ballast Quay, including Number 18, are recognized as a group.
