Description
Hadley Wood Golf Club House is a late 18th-century building with a slightly older rear wing. The structure is made of red brick, which has been refaced in yellow stock brick to match the main house. The front of the building is two storeys high and features seven windows. The central section is defined by four giant Doric pilasters that support a stucco entablature and blocking course. The sash windows, which have been replaced, are topped with gauged flat brick arches and feature glazing bars and later wood blind cases. There are four steps leading up to a replaced half-glazed double door with sidelights, situated within a prostyle Doric porch that has a dentil cornice. A modern clock is positioned above the entrance, and there is a wide, semi-circular gauged brick arch behind it.
On either side of the main building are one-storey pavilions that date from the mid to late 19th century. These pavilions are stuccoed and feature pilasters, an entablature, and hipped slate roofs. Each pavilion contains three round-headed windows in the center, flanked by narrow windows on either side. Inside, the hall showcases Corinthian pilasters and an enriched entablature, with doors and windows that are also elaborately decorated. A graceful curved staircase with a spiral-ended handrail leads to the upper levels. The front lobby features oval plaster medallions depicting classical scenes, along with enriched pine paneling in the dining room.
Hadley Wood Golf Club House and the Stable Range are recognized as a group.
