Description
Camlet House is a house built around 1875 to 1880 by builder Frederick Lambert, with later alterations. It is constructed of concrete blocks and has a stucco finish, with sheeting on the roof. The building is two storeys high and features six bays, with the central and end bays projecting; the central bay includes a third storey. Designed in a Greek style, it has square columns supporting a porch and attached square columns at tripartite windows. The design includes sill and lintel strings, a stepped band below the oversailing corniced eaves, and pediments on the end and central bays, along with corniced chimneys. The windows are sash, with tripartite arrangements in the end bays and on the ground floor. The ground-floor windows in the end bays have decorated raised pediments, and the first-floor windows feature part-fluted columns. The central internal porch has a six-panel door and full-height windows on either side, all with overlights. The windows in the flanking bays are similar. The ground-floor columns have etched lotus-type decoration. On the first floor of the central bay, there is a sash window flanked by recesses with fasces, and on the second floor, there is a small two-light window also flanked by recesses. The interior has not been inspected.
