Description

3 and 5 Woodstock Road are a pair of houses dating to approximately 1878, designed by R.N. Shaw. They represent a variation on a published semi-detached design. The houses are built of yellow and red brick with tiled roofs and a coved eaves cornice. They are two storeys high with attics, featuring flat door hoods and large canted bays with timber railing above. The roofs are hipped with gabled dormers. The design includes a type of bay that Shaw was forced to abandon due to cost considerations. In 1880, No. 3 was the residence of Canon J.W. Horsley.
