Description
Nos 3 and 5 Bedford Road, built in 1878, are a pair of semi-detached houses designed by R N Shaw. They are constructed of red brick with tiled roofs and feature two storeys and attics. Number 3 has a gabled three-storey bay, with the top storey projecting; however, the pediment is now missing and the gable has been rendered. The entrance is located at the side. Number 3 also includes a single-storey bay and a hood over the entrance door. Each house has two windows, with the top floor window in the gable being double, as is the gabled dormer on the right-hand house. A tall chimney stack is positioned on the party wall, and there are brick piers and a gate leading to the front garden. The houses are illustrated on page 208 of 'R Norman Shaw' by Andrew Saint as they appeared in 1881.
