Description

No. 6 Bedford Road is a Grade II listed building dating from 1879, designed by R. N. Shaw. It is an unaltered example of the second detached design. The building features a low profile, constructed of red brick, with a large, steeply pitched tiled roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with a shaped gable over the entrance that includes a gabled porch, which slightly projects from the main structure. There is a single-storey bay with a timber railing and a round-headed window above, which rises into the roof as a half dormer. A gabled dormer is situated in the roof above the entrance bay, and there are brick chimneys on the roof slope. The building is illustrated on page 206 of 'R Norman Shaw' by Andrew Saint.
