Description

The coal taxpost located by the entrance to the Recreation Ground on Chelsfield Lane dates from 1861. It is made of cast iron and has a square shape with chamfered sides and moulded caps. The post features a shield from the City's Arms and is classified as No 199, Type 2C in "The Coal Duties of the City of London and their Boundary Marks" published in 1972.
