Description
No. 151 on High Street in Barnet is a building dating from around 1700, with some alterations made over the years. The structure is primarily brick, painted at the front and rendered on the cross-gabled rear elevation. It features a clay tiled roof, with a rebuilt chimney at the north end and a rendered chimney at the south. There is a first-floor band, and the building stands two storeys high with two windows. The ground floor has gauged flat brick arches and stone cills, while the sash windows have lost their glazing bars. A brick buttress is located on the left side, and there is a projecting modern shop on the right that is not of special interest.
Inside, the ground floor includes a room with simple late 17th-century wainscoting, featuring panels of even size. The first-floor room above has similar painted panelling and a corner fireplace with a simple chimney piece from the same period. The balusters on the staircase have been replaced, and the stair has a closed string.
