Description

Numbers 27, 29 (Thorndon Friars), and 31 are early 18th century houses located on Dury Road in Monken Hadley. The main house at number 29 is five windows wide and two storeys tall, constructed of brown brick with a hipped tile roof and a wooden eaves cornice. It features a bracketed wooden doorcase and a six-panel door. The windows are sashes with glazing bars set in centered heads. Numbers 27 and 31 are later additions, forming two-window wide wings that are slightly recessed. These wings also have hipped tile roofs and are two storeys high, with sashes that have glazing bars. The windows in these wings have been rebuilt since 1950.
