Description

The Great Wall is a structure designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, made of red brick. It consists of a long stretch of walling, partly featuring a pierced parapet, which extends from Hampstead Way to Heathgate. This wall serves as the garden boundary for several houses, each of which includes a garden house with a gazebo that overlooks the wall. The garden houses are partially weatherboarded, equipped with sliding sash windows, and topped with tiled pyramid roofs. Each garden has a door leading to the Heath Extension, with some doors set in tiled archways. Although the original plan was for the wall to continue to Wildwood Road, the eastern section was never constructed.
