Description

This is an incomplete crescent of terraced houses located on Grosvenor Crescent in the City of Westminster, dating from the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of stucco with slate mansard roofs and extend over four storeys, in addition to basements. Each house is three windows wide. The ground floor features channelling, and projecting Doric porches are present. Windows are mostly sashed with glazing bars, although some first-floor windows are French casements. A continuous cast iron balcony runs along the front. A dentil cornice sits above the second floor. Numbers 2 and 8 incorporate a giant Corinthian order linking the first and second floors. Number 1 has a segmental bow to the return, with a giant Corinthian order enclosing a northern view towards Belgrave Square. The group value of the crescent is recognised by its Grade II* listing, reflecting its key position within the streetscape.
