Millbank Primary School And Adult Education Centre Adjacent To North Of Hogarth House

Millbank Primary School and Adult Education Centre is a former infants school built in 1901 by the London School Board architects as part of the London County Council Millbank Estate. The building is constructed of stock brick with red brick and slight stone dressings, topped with a tiled roof. It features a free "Queen Anne" style that evolves from the Board school type established by Robson and Stevenson. The structure is a single-storey block arranged in a shallow L shape, measuring seven windows wide along the street, with a slightly asymmetrical window grouping. The entrance is located on the south side, highlighted by a broad, central gabled break that includes three tall flush framed glazing bar sashes. The left wing has a brick pilastered and gabled frame above a high set window with a name plaque, while the right wing has a similar feature framing a full-length window, along with additional windows on either side. The rear range includes half dormers. The building is included for its group value with the Millbank Estate.
