Description

St John's House is a house built around 1813 by Thomas Hardwick, originally intended as a curate's residence for the nearby St John's Wood Chapel, now known as the Church of St John the Baptist. It is located at the corner of a former burial ground on Prince Albert Road in the City of Westminster. The building is constructed of stock brick with a concealed slate roof and stands three storeys tall with a basement.

The façade features three windows across, with a four-window blind return facing St John's Wood High Street, and includes a mid-20th century entrance wing on the west side. The ground floor has a blind arcade with semicircular arched recessed sashes that have glazing bars radiating to the heads, and there is a blind window to the left. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged arches, with a blind window to the left on the first floor. The arcade is adorned with a stucco impost that is also blind, and there is a brick plat band above the ground floor, topped by a parapet with stone coping.
