Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses, located on the south side of Belgrave Road in the City of Westminster. The terrace is built of stucco, with the roof hidden from view. The design is balanced, with groups of three houses projecting forward at various points, specifically at numbers 78, 84 to 88, 98 to 102, 112 to 116, and 126 to 130. Rusticated quoins are visible on the exterior. The terrace rises four stories with an attic and basement. Each house is two windows wide. The ground floor features channelling, while projecting Doric porches are topped with triglyph friezes. A balustraded balcony runs across the first floor. The windows are square-headed, with architraves above the ground floor level. The windows on the first and second floors have cornices, and those on the forward-projecting houses are pedimented. A console cornice is found above the third floor, though simplified on number 78. A full attic storey has a subsidiary cornice. The windows are mainly sash windows, with plate glass, and French casements on the first floor. The building returns to the left, providing access to number 130. Cast iron area railings are present. The terrace faces a line of buildings opposite, which match in design and lead into St George's Square from the west.
