Description

TQ 2980 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER SACKVILLE STREET W1 70/99 5.2.70 No 32 GV II Terrace house. c. 1732 with late C18 alterations. Brown brick, slate roof. 4 storeys. 4 windows wide. semicircular arched doorway to right, late C18, with patterned fanlight and panelled door with side lights. Recessed sashes, no glazing bars, under flat gauged arches. Moulded cornice over 2nd floor and parapet with coping. The interior retains late C18 Wyatt-like decoration to the hall with pilasters and segmental arches, the tympana decorated with relief medallions all'antico, delicate cornice with fluting and rams' heads to frieze. Simple open string staircase. Similar elegant decorative features to the ceiling and doorcases of otherwise altered and subdivided 1st floor rooms etc. Survey of London; vol XXXII
