Description

This detached house at 26 Bessborough Road, Roehampton, was built in 1938 and designed by Connell, Ward and Lucas. It is an example of the International Modern style. The construction combines a concrete frame with grey brick and stucco. The house is two stories high. The front elevation, facing the street, features continuous glazing on both floors, extending to the left. A garage and the house entrance are recessed to the right. The doors are plain and lack moulding. A semicircular stucco projection is located to the left of the ground-floor entrance. A stuccoed strip runs between the two floors, extending beyond the glazing to form a balcony on the left return. The roof is a projecting concrete slab, forming a flat roof. The garden facade to the left return has a balcony. The interior has not been inspected.
