Description
The Church of St Nicholas was rebuilt between 1831 and 1833, designed by architect T W Atkinson. An apsidal chancel was added from 1873 to 1875. The church is built in a Gothic style using grey brick, with some stone dressings. The chancel and transept additions are made of amber brick, featuring flush red brick bands. The west tower is topped with pinnacles, and there is a queen-post roof. Inside, there is a west gallery that houses an organ, along with old monuments and fittings from the former church.
