Description

No 41, Trinity Square is an early 19th-century building featuring a brick facade with a stuccoed ground floor. It stands four storeys high with attic dormers and basements, and there is a later extension above the modillion cornice on the top storey. The building has three windows on the upper floors, each with gauged flat-headed arches. The first floor features a central window with a shouldered architrave and a cornice above. The ground floor includes a stucco band beneath the first floor windows, with a small cornice band above the keystones and at the impost level. There are round-headed windows with triple keystones, and all the windows are sash types, most of which have glazing bars. The round-headed doorway is framed by a moulded architrave, with panelled side pilasters. Larger consoles with ornamental stops support a flat pediment featuring a keystone, and the tympanum has low relief moulding. The ground floor also displays a plaque with a bas relief portrait of Lord Wakefield. The area is enclosed by wrought iron railings with urn finials. This building, along with the Roman Wall, the Merchant Navy Memorial, the First World War section with the Port of London Authority Building and Lamps, Trinity House, and Nos 41 and 42, forms a group of significant structures.
