Description

The Globe Public House is a public house built in 1872 by Henry Jarvis. It features brick construction in mixed bonds with stone dressings and has hipped and gable roofs covered in slate. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, the building has an unusual heart-shaped plan and is located adjacent to the railway to the north-west, with a straight range of one window facing Bedale Street.

The exterior consists of three storeys with roof dormers. The single-window range on Bedale Street includes triple windows and is highlighted by a full-height rectangular bay that rests on corbels at the ground floor. There is a curving range that leads to Green Dragon Court. The bay terminates in a 2-light gabled dormer, while all the windows below are also 2-light, except for the ground floor window, which has quadrant corners and is repeated across the public house elevation. The variety of window openings, dormers, and decorative treatments contribute to a picturesque and striking design. The interior has not been inspected.
