Description
Fairbairn Hall is a building constructed between 1897 and 1898, designed by architect F W Troup. It features a red brick exterior with a yellow terracotta tiled roof and a glazed tiled plinth, showcasing a free neo-Tudor style. The building stands three storeys high with cross gables at each end. Projecting square bays rise to the full height of the structure beneath the gables. The windows are square-headed, mullioned, and transomed, with leaded lights in the center. On the ground floor, there are two large semicircular windows with radiating glazing bars. The entrance is located beneath a canopied semicircular arch, with etched glass doors. The right-hand corner is corbelled, and there is a corner turret featuring squat columns topped with a semi-dome and finial. Fairbairn Hall was originally built as Mansfield House University Settlement. A residential extension was added to the rear between 1935 and 1938. The interior has not been seen.
