Description

The Coroner’s Court was built between 1895 and 1899. It is a Gothic-style building constructed of red brick with white ashlar dressings. The building comprises two wings with gabled ends facing the road. The left wing is two storeys and has an attic, with two windows. The attic windows are stone mullioned with three lights, featuring a stone cill band and a first-floor cornice below. The first-floor windows are also mullioned and transomed, with a patterned cill band. The ground floor has a traceried window with an ornamental cornice above. The right wing is a single-storey hall featuring a large, six-light traceried window within a gabled stone surround. Horizontal bands are present at the eaves, spring, cill, and plinth levels. A stone porch in the angle has a traceried fanlight above a Tudor-arched door. Both main gables are finished with blank tracery.
