Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of six houses, numbered 4 to 10, located on Somerset Gardens. Each house is two storeys high with a basement, and features three windows. The left bay of the terrace projects and is set beneath a gable. The roof is low-pitched and covered in slate with a visible eaves soffit. The houses are built of multicoloured stock brick, while the basement is stuccoed and blank except for a window positioned beneath a balcony. The windows have gauged brick arches and bracketed sills. The first-floor window on the left side is round-arched, and the ground floor window to the right has three lights. A flight of ten steps leads up to a balcony supported by cast iron columns along the ground floor to the right of the gabled bay. The balcony is enclosed by a patterned cast iron railing, supported and screened by decorative cast ironwork. The main entrance features a four-panel door and a simple fanlight, while a long casement window with a transom leads off the balcony. Nos 4 to 11 and Nos 14 to 18 form a group.
