Description

The Church of St Mary is a Roman Catholic church built around 1877-79, designed by architect J F Bentley. It is constructed of yellow brick with stone dressings and features a tiled roof. The church is designed in an Early English/Georgian Gothic style, characterized by cusped lancet windows in the clerestory and a pointed barrel roof supported by stone columns and dressings. Notable interior elements include altars designed by Pugin and Bentley, as well as a pulpit created by Bentley.
