Description
This is a mid-19th century row of five terraced houses, numbers 5 to 15 Queen’s Gate Place, London. The houses are built of gault brick and stucco, and stand five storeys high with a basement. They have a consistent design, with three windows grouped together on each front. Several houses have bay windows on the ground floor. Prominent Doric porticos feature.
A first-floor balcony has a stucco balustrade and round-arched windows framed by a Corinthian order, with a central pediment. The second-floor windows are distinguished by cornices with a central, segmental pediment. A substantial cornice of modillion style sits below the top storey. The building has a high parapet with a cornice and blocking. Original cast iron area railings are present. The row forms a visual grouping with Queen’s Gate and Queen’s Gate Gardens.
