Description

Cheniston Lodge, originally a house and later adapted as a register office, was built in 1885. The building is constructed of red brick with moulded brick detailing. It is two storeys high, with a basement and a gable storey, and comprises one main bay. A prominent shaped gable is a key feature, as is the projecting porch on the left and the canted bay window on the right side of the ground floor. Brick pilasters accentuate the upper floors. The first floor has a square-headed window with three sashes, while above that is a single central window. Upper floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars; ground floor windows have leaded lights. The entrance features a panelled door. Decorative panels of moulded brick incorporate fruit and sunflower motifs.
