Description
This drinking fountain, dating from 1863, is located on High Street in Hornsey. It features a chamfered pink granite obelisk that is mounted on a grey granite plinth, which has moulded caps and sloping chamfered edges. Attached to the plinth is a semi-circular pink granite bowl, although the cups and chain are missing. Below the bowl is an iron dog trough. The fountain bears the inscription: "The fear of the Lord is the fountain of life." Additionally, the obelisk is inscribed with: "Presented to the parish of Hornsey by Maria Hawes Ware 1863."
