Description

Nos 22 and 22A on Avonmore Road is a house built in 1888-1889 by architect James MacLaren. This studio house, designed for the sculptor H R Pinkes, features brick construction with stone dressings, which have been painted. The building has three main storeys and an additional storey within the tiled roof. It includes a low porch and a large, partly glazed studio door that leads to casements, some of which are partly missing. There is also added plumbing at the front. At the top, a small octagonal lantern with a wind-vane crowns what resembles a turret where the front of the building projects forward.
