Description

This is a pair of houses built in the early 1770s on Kingsland Road. Each house is three storeys high with a two-window facade on the main block. An original, single-bay north wing, set back from the main block, has a lunette on its second floor. A later, early 19th-century wing is also set back, although its upper portion is more modern. The houses are constructed of stock brick, with a stucco dentil cornice and blocking course. They have a low-pitched slated roof with a central chimney stack. The sash windows have stuccoed lintels, and some retain glazing bars. Late 20th-century shops now occupy the forecourts. Peter Guillery's report "Waste and place: Late-eighteenth Century Development on the Kingsland Road" provides further context.
