Description
Nos 237 to 243 on Hackney Road, built in the early 19th century, form a terrace of four-storey houses with basements. Each house typically has two windows, except for No 243, which has three. The buildings are constructed of stock brick and feature a parapet. No 241 has undergone some rebuilding. The sash windows are topped with gauged flat brick arches, and most include glazing bars. There is a cill band on the first floor. Nos 241 and 243 have long windows with cast iron balconies. The doors are either four or six panels, adorned with cornice heads and radial fanlights. It is possible that the houses are older than their current facades. Together with the garden walls, Nos 229 to 243 form a cohesive group.
