Description
Nos 3 to 5 Wardrobe Place, located on the west side, are a row of plain, red brick houses that likely date from the late 17th century or very early 18th century. The buildings feature storey-bands and three segmentally arched windows on each house. They rise three storeys, plus cellars, and have dormers in a re-tiled roof. No 5 has been altered to include a full top storey. The doorcases of Nos 4 and 5 have fanlights and are probably from the late 18th century. Nos 3 and 4 are united, with the ground storey rendered and square-headed windows. There is a City of London plaque on No 5 marking the site of the King's Wardrobe, which was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666.
