Description

The five gate piers to Inner Temple Garden, located on Victoria Embankment, were built in the late 19th century. They consist of five tall piers made of Portland stone, featuring grouped flat pilasters adorned with incised stylized floral motifs. Each pier has angle shafts resting on acanthus leaf bases and is topped with cast iron vases. The gates are made of spiked iron and include roundels with a winged horse motif, which is the badge of Inner Temple. There is a similar pier at the neighboring east corner of the gardens.
