Description
49 and 50 Fleet Street is a building constructed in 1911 by J M Brooks. It is made of Portland stone and has three main storeys with a total of 11 bays. The outer two bays at each end feature attic pavilions. The ground floor is channelled and has two arched entrances, with the right-hand entrance leading to Serjeant's Inn. There is a central arched niche that contains a sculptural group. The building features Ionic columns for the two storeys above, with the central seven bays having columns in antis and coupled to highlight the centre. The outer bays are adorned with pilasters, and the first-floor windows have pediments, with those in the recessed centre being alternately segmental and triangular.
