Description
This is a symmetrical terrace of seven houses located on the east side of Belsize Grove, constructed between 1825 and 1826 by George Crane. The houses are built of stucco with slate mansard roofs, each generally featuring dormers, although the central house, number 32, has an attic storey and a pediment instead. Each house has two storeys, attics, and semi-basements, with three windows to the front. The doorways have square, architraved surrounds, incorporating overlights and part-glazed panelled doors. The ground-floor windows are architraved sashes, and the first-floor windows have pilaster strips rising from a band, supporting a simplified entablature with a projecting cornice; number 32 features lugged architraves to its windows. A battlemented blocking course is present, with cast-iron balustrades in front of the dormers. The pediment of number 32 now features a fibreglass sculpture of Hope, replacing the original. The interiors have not been inspected. The terrace is accompanied by attached cast-iron railings to the front areas.
