Description

A group of four semi-detached houses, built around 1825 and designed by John Nash. Numbers 1 and 2 have a stucco facade with a brick return on the left. These houses are four storeys high with basements, and each has three windows, with slightly recessed entrance bays on either side. The doorways have architraves, panelled doors, fanlights, and are set within shallow segmental-arched recesses. There are recessed sash windows, and the first floor has wrought iron balconies (except for the recessed entrance bays). A plain stucco band runs along the first floor, and the main cornice sits at the third floor level, with a further cornice and blocking course above. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast iron railings with spearhead finials border the areas.

Numbers 3 and 4 are stuccoed, with a channelled ground floor. They have an irregular L-shaped plan, with three windows and a two-window (one blind) return on the left. These houses are also four storeys high with basements. Number 3 has a right-hand entrance with an ornamented stucco surround and entablature, with a balustraded balcony above. Number 4 features a prostyle portico on the left-hand return, with pilaster strips rising through the ground, first, second, and third floors (the upper floors being ornamented). The ground and first floors have tripartite sash windows. The first floor windows are architraved with cornices and have cast iron balconies, except for the entrance to Number 3, which features an architraved sash with a decorated frieze and cornice. The second and third floor windows are architraved with guttae. A main cornice sits at the third floor level, with a further cornice and blocking course above. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast iron railings and walls border the areas and the rear.
