Description
Portland House is a house, now divided into flats, dating from the early to mid 18th century. It has a timber frame with a front made of red brick and a plain tiled roof featuring a wood modillion eaves cornice. The building is two storeys high, with attics and a cellar. The façade has five windows arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern, with the central section slightly projecting. All windows are 12-pane sashes set in flush cased frames with flat gauged arches. There is a raised brick band between the storeys and another band just below the cornice. Three hipped dormers contain small-paned casement windows. The central entrance features a recessed six-panel door framed by a Gibbs surround with rusticated architraves, a cornice, and a pediment. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have been completely modernised, with all historic features concealed or removed.
