Description
Honeysuckle Cottages is a house dating from the 15th century, which originally featured an open hall but underwent significant alterations and extensions in the late 16th century. The structure consists of a central hall range with a service wing on the right, which was rebuilt in the late 16th century, and a jettied parlour wing on the left from the same period. The building stands two storeys high, with both wings having attics. It is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a plain clay tiled roof.
The property features various 19th and 20th-century casement and sash windows, along with a late 16th-century mullioned window that can be seen from the inside. There is a cross-passage entry that includes an early 19th-century six-panel entrance door with a flat canopy above. The roofs are wind-braced with clasped purlins. The hall has been floored over, re-roofed, and a stack was inserted backing onto the cross-passage in the late 16th century. The 16th-century parlour showcases good framing, while the end chimney is enclosed by a rear 18th-century staircase in the wing. Additionally, there is a rear cross-passage porch that is an early addition.
