Description
Fox Farmhouse is a house that was originally a farmhouse and public house, dating from the late 16th century, with an extension added in the early 17th century. It features a three-cell lobby-entrance plan, is one and a half storeys high with attics, and is constructed of timber framing with a rendered finish. The roof is pantiled and includes gabled casement dormers, along with axial chimneys made of red brick. Most of the windows are 19th-century casements, and there is a 20th-century lean-to porch with a flush entrance door. Inside, the timber framing is exposed, and there are open back-to-back fireplaces in the hall and former parlour. The roof has clasped purlins. An additional cell was added to the east end beyond the parlour in the 17th century. The building was known as the Fox and Hounds public house around 1900 and is currently in poor condition.
