Description
The Grove is a house dating from the late 18th century, with a rear range built around 1700. The building has two storeys and features five windows. It is constructed of painted brick and has a hipped slated roof. The sash windows are adorned with gauged brick flat arches and small panes. The entrance door is recessed and has six panels with panelled reveals, flat pilasters, and an entablature topped with an open pediment. Above the door is a segmental fanlight with radial glazing bars. The rear range has a double-pile plan and is timber-framed with a rendered finish. Inside, there are notable features from around 1700, including a study with full-height bolection-moulded panelling and a staircase with barley-sugar twist balusters and an enriched handrail. The front range contains late 18th-century joinery, including impressive fireplaces and six-panel doors. There is also a service wing added in the 19th century at the rear.
