Description
Jacks Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that likely dates from the 15th or early 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and in 1747, as indicated by a cartouche over the front door. The building has a three-cell cross-entry plan and was originally designed with an open hall. It has one storey and attics, featuring a timber-framed and plastered structure with extensive areas of small raised pargetted panels that correspond to the 1747 date. The roof is thatched and includes a central 17th-century chimney made of narrow red bricks, along with two eyebrow dormers fitted with small pane casements. There are also 19th-century small-pane casements present. The front entrance has a six-panelled door, likely from 1747, with fielded panels, located at the cross-entry. A hipped thatched open entrance porch from the 19th century is attached. To the right, there is an 18th-century bakehouse range with a pantiled roof. The medieval framing is plain, and the open truss of the two-bay open hall is missing. A binding beam that supports the inserted upper floor from the 16th or 17th century passes through the rear wall and is needled externally.
