Description
The Watering is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with significant alterations made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It has two storeys and attics, featuring a three-cell cross-passage entrance plan. The structure is timber-framed and rough-cast, with the first floor jettied on the southeast side. The rear wall and one end wall display exposed close-studding with arch wind-bracing. The roof is covered with concrete tiles, replacing the original plain tiles, and has a red brick axial chimney. The windows are small-pane 19th-century sashes. There is a 19th-century gabled entrance porch made of red brick, which includes a six-panelled door. To the left of the main building is a small early 20th-century extension, while to the right is a forward-projecting wing, both constructed of red brick.
