Description
Cookley Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It features a three-cell main range with a cross wing to the west, which was likely originally two detached ranges, with the cross wing being the earlier structure. The farmhouse is timber framed, with the main range being part roughcast rendered and part plastered, while the cross wing is mostly faced in colourwashed brick. The roof is tiled with plain tiles on the front and pantiles on the rear.
The building has two storeys and an attic, with various casement windows, mostly from the 20th century. Notably, there are two good ovolo-moulded mullioned windows on the rear of the main range. The facade of the cross wing features a mid-19th century doorcase with panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a heavy bracketed hood, leading to a six-panel door with the upper two panels glazed. Inside, there is fine exposed framing, old floorboarding, and many original doors. Additionally, a six-light mullioned window has been exposed in the rear wall of the cross wing.
