Description

Monks Eleigh Hall is a house rebuilt around 1650 by Miles Burkitt, formerly Rector of Hitcham. It underwent significant alterations towards the end of the 18th century. The building has timber framing with plaster infill, and the ground storey is faced with gault brick. The main block features a three-window front, with a later two-window addition to the west. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. A prominent feature is a large ridge chimney stack with six octagonal shafts rising from a rectangular base; a date panel on the north side bears the date 1656. The roofs are slate covered.
