Description

This is a range of 18th-century timber-framed and plastered almshouses arranged in three blocks. A long block extends east and west, set back from the street, with two shorter blocks extending south at the east and west ends. The date 1777 is recorded above the east doorway of the long block. The building is one storey in height with attics. Windows are casement type, some with old leaded lights and some modern replacements. A small 19th-century former shop window is also present in the long block. The roofs are pantiled, with three dormers to the main long block – two gabled and one with a sloping roof. The arrangement of the three blocks forms a quadrangle, which is shaded by three large chestnut trees at the front.
