Description

Higham Lodge is a house dating from the early 19th century, with later additions. It is constructed of white brick and features a slate roof and rendered stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-by-three bay layout. At the rear, there is a later 19th-century extension. The front of the house includes a central projecting porch from the late 19th century, which is pilastered and has a panelled parapet. The porch contains double half-glazed doors with a fanlight above. The return walls feature plate glass sashes set under cambered arches. The inner door also has a radial fanlight. The outer bays have segment-arched recesses that hold tripartite sashes with glazing bars, set in reveals with sills beneath cambered gauged brick arches. There is another tripartite sash under a cambered arch in the centre of the first floor. To the left, there is a single-storey flat-roofed bay that matches the detailing of the main structure. The plain coped parapet, which shows signs of rebuilding, mainly covers a hipped roof with three round-arched dormers featuring radial glazing. The return walls have sashes with glazing bars under cambered gauged brick arches in reveals with sills. The interior has not been inspected.
